In the north of the island, the Corralejo Dunes Natural Park protects a large field of golden dunes that reaches the sea. It's one of Fuerteventura's most famous landscapes: sand that shifts with the wind, open sky and, in the distance, Isla de Lobos and the outline of Lanzarote. A protected space best enjoyed with respect.
The Grandes Playas
At the foot of the dunes stretch the Grandes Playas: miles of pale sand and clear water, with coves and areas more sheltered from the wind. They're perfect for spending the day, though it's worth knowing there's barely any shade or services: this is almost untouched nature.

- Walk the dunes at sunrise or sunset, when the light is prettiest and it's cooler.
- Swim at the Grandes Playas and look for the spots most sheltered from the wind.
- Enjoy the views of Lobos and Lanzarote from the top of the sand.
- Wind sports: the area is well known for windsurfing and kitesurfing.
